Wakati akiandaa tangazo hilo Michael aliungua kichwani na usoni baada ya kuunguzwa na mafataki yaliyokuwa yameandaliwa kupendesha tangazo hilo nah ii ilikuwa ni January 27, 1984 na kutokana na mzuka aliokuwa nao wala Michael hakuhisi kuwa alikuwa anaungua hadi pale alipokuja kuokolewa na walinzi wake.
Baada ya kuungua Jackson alianza kutumia dawa hizo za kupunguza maumivu baada ya kufanyiwa upasuaji kurekebisha nywele na uso wake na watu waliokuwa karibu na Michael Jackson wamekiri kuwa kuanzia hapo mfalme huyo wa Pop hakurejea katika hali yake ya kawaida .
Mmoja wa watu hao anasema kwamba Maisha ya Michael yalibadilika sana tena inasikitisha akiwa na umri mdogo wa miaka 25 na kama isingekuwa ajali hiyo ya moto basi leo hii tungekuwa tunazungumza mengine.
Mnamo mwaka 1993 akihojiwa na mtangazaji wa kipindi cha Jamii Oprah Winfrey Jacko alimweleza mtangazaji huyo kwamba baada ya kuungua aliamua kuanzisha kituo cha watoto walioungua.
